American TV producers love to provoke reunions. For a few episodes, they like to bring together friends who have been through the full range of emotions together, like that of Beverly Hills 90210, friends Where Gilmore Girls, to name a few. Broadcasters here might also be tempted by the return of notable characters. Here are five youth series we’d like to see revived.
The cottage
The tenants of this chalet had a family spirit, a listening ear and compassion that showed. They were there for each other despite strong emotions and current problems. With this wonderful group of friends we have learned to face all challenges every day. Of course we would have to find a new place for them to chat and have fun, but the complicity of friends like Sarah-Jeanne Labrosse, Julianne Côté and Pier-Luc Funk and the complicity of lovers Catherine Brunet and Antoine Pilon would always still be safe in the star.
radio hell
François Chénier, Michel Charette and Co. were much older than the teenagers who played them. However, this did not prevent her from having a great time at school and participating in student radio activities. Will you see her again years later – perhaps on the premises of a community radio station? – would certainly arouse curiosity. There would be no certainty that members of this horde of funny guys would have managed to lessen the shock of their personalities, but that would certainly still make it laughable.
A grenade to go with it?
Set for many twists, surreal discussions, and fun surprises, a fast food restaurant is the perfect place to stage the action of one of the comedies. At Captain Creighton in Montreal, staff had plenty of time to be themselves. And they took full advantage of it while getting paid. Ten years later, would you be willing to share this everyday life, or would you have other ambitions, such as opening your own restaurant?
The Academy
It’s only been two years since Agathe, Marie and Wendy completed an important school milestone. However, you still have so many crucial things to live through that we would welcome the opportunity to be at the forefront of the consequences of new and important decisions. How would their friendship adjust to the paths they chose? Would their loved ones be as turbulent as they were at the end of their studies? What would become of their aspirations? How would they manage to deal with their doubts? So many questions…
In a galaxy near you
Of course, the movies existed to enhance the crazy galactic adventures of Captain Patenaude and his crew. But humor of this kind on television, in a unique and wacky universe, the many fans of this comedy – young and old – would happily take back in big doses. The Romano Fafard may be over 20 years old, he would have no trouble getting back to flying. And its passengers, even if they had taken a few wrinkles, probably wouldn’t have changed…much to the delight of the public.
