Under the motto “O Quadradinho, o Quadrinho ea Leitura… Semper em Frente” in honor of the illustrator and writer Roger Mello, the 36th edition of the Brasília Book Fair (FeLiB) starts this Friday (June 17) at the Cultural Complex of the Republic, on the Esplanada dos Ministerios. The event will take place until June 26th, in person, with free indicative classification and free entry.
More than 80,000 visitors are expected during the days of the event. In addition to the exhibitions, the fair also offers programs for all ages, lectures, cultural presentations and educational activities at more than 60 stands.
The fair will also focus on sustainability and all waste generated on site will be recycled after the event. In addition, Roger Mello, illustrator and writer, and Antônio Miranda, founder of the National Library, will be the main laureates.

Dear
One of the winners of the event, Antônio Miranda first director of the National Library of Brasília spoke at the opening of the fair. “It is very special to be here now and to share this great event of civic culture with these other awardees,” he guarantees.
The illustrator and writer Roger Mello also thanked the honoree and praised the organization of the fair. “There are still those who want the book taken away from the people, but it’s here, it’s a form of resistance,” he stressed.
Important cultural point
Friends Luis Menezes, 27, Andrezza Cardoso, 28, and Angélica Mota, 23, are always present at the fair. For them, the idea of coming to the place guarantees a more social experience for the book buying process. “When we come to the fair, we can introduce someone to a new genre,” explains Luiz.
Another positive, says the young man, is that you can talk to the authors. “I’m a designer and I spoke to the author of a book about diagramming, he autographed the book, that’s impossible when you buy online,” he says.
Angelica had already toured the large campsite between the National Museum and the library and revealed that she found the prices cheaper than in other years and even in the online shops.
She also believes that the fact that the event is held on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, near the Plano Piloto bus station, helps attract more people to the prestige.

They have had a stand at the show for ten years and despite the fact that very high sales are not expected due to the pandemic, he feels it is very important to have the event in person again. “It’s great to come back with the fair because it’s a cultural event that Brasília needs,” he guarantees.
