LPGA: Henderson looks for another win
Canada’s Brooke M. Henderson has her sights set on winning the Meijer Classic. She ranks third at the end of a third round of 67 (-5) in Belmont, Michigan.
After a rather quiet start to the day, during which she managed a single birdie, the 24-year-old golfer upped her game and posted four birdies on the back nine, including three in a row between 12th and 14th place. Pennant.
With a score of 201 (-15) after 54 holes, only the Americans Jennifer Kupcho and Nelly Korda are ahead of her. The latter sits at the top of the chart at 198 (-18), while Kupcho is just behind the head.
Henderson has to be wary of a third representative from Uncle Sam’s country on Sunday as Lexi Thompson is on strike. The Maple Leaf member could use as many tries to win a second tournament she won at Classic ShopRite a week ago.
For her part, Quebec’s Maude-Aimée Leblanc has little hope of victory, but an excellent third card of 68 (-4) saw her gain 33 places. She shares 34th place with 210 (-6) with six competitors.
The other Maple Leaf in the running, Alena Sharp, also grabbed a few positions to finish tied in 41st on her Round of 69 (-3) with a cumulative 211 (-5).
