Petro proposes Latin America to integrate more resolutely

Bogota, 20.06. (Prensa Latina) Colombia’s President-elect Gustavo Petro suggested in his speech that Latin America should integrate more resolutely after experiencing Sunday’s election victory.

Latin America, which is also indigenous, Afro, Anglo-Saxon America, which is also a colorful America, must engage in the great dialogue that will enable the salvation of humanity, Petro stressed, pointing to the new forms of energy production and transformation.

He urged progressives in the region to reflect that it can be built around agriculture and agrarian reforms, agro-industrialization and industry under new technologies.

“They all signify knowledge-based production and reunion with nature,” stressed Petro, who places the defense of Mother Earth and her resources at the heart of his government, while continuing to exploit them without depletion.

He proposed a productive and non-extractivist Latin America that deepens knowledge to the highest spheres of human knowledge.

“A Latin America that, thanks to its black and indigenous roots, can propose to the world a real restoration of balance with nature in order to live and exist,” emphasized Petro, who in his programmatic platform proposes making profound changes to face up the emergency caused by climate change and biodiversity loss.

He pointed out that this means moving towards a productive economy based on respect for nature, moving away from exclusive reliance on the extractive model and democratizing the use of clean energy.

By doing so, build national capacities that will enable us to address the impacts of climate change, thereby helping to overcome the global environmental crisis that is putting human life and survival at risk.

“A common Latin America so that it can call out to humanity that the time has come to change, to live tasty,” Petro stressed in front of thousands of supporters at the Movistar Arena Coliseum in that capital.
