There is always news coming from the Indianapolis Scout Factory, where head coaches and front office staff usually talk to the media for the first time in weeks.
Tuesday was no exception, especially when head coach Mike McCarthy took the podium at Indy.
McCarthy revealed that quarterback Duck Prescott is one of the players who underwent surgery out of season.
“He is one of eight players to have had surgery after the season,” McCarthy said. “We had to clean his left shoulder. That’s something that needed to be done. But he’s rehabilitating him. He’s starting the process to get better.”
McCarthy said he did not believe Prescott had been hit hard by the injury all season. Duck set the Cowboys record for one season for touchdowns with 37 and was 11-5 as a starter, before a disappointing 49ers loss in the playoffs.
“It is not a problem. We have no worries, “McCarthy said. “He’s doing well.”
McCarthy added that he expects Prescott to be a full participant in off-season training.
Prescott was one of the Bowl substitutes, and although he had a chance to play in the game, the quarterback chose not to. Apparently, the operation plan was probably a factor in this decision now.
Since the middle of last season, Prescott has undergone two surgeries for an ankle injury that cost him most of the year. In training camp in 2021, he had a right forearm / shoulder injury that left him out of action until the start of the season. He then suffered a calf injury that prevented him from participating in a match.
