We now have a much better idea of the plot for Quantum Leap, NBC’s upcoming reboot of the popular 1990s sci-fi drama starring Raymond Lee. The extended logline was released on Wednesday, as the network announced the series’ September 19 premiere date.
The first logline revealed that it has been “30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett got into the Quantum Leap Accelerator and disappeared. A new team has now been assembled to restart the project in hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.”

A more detailed synopsis picks up from there:
“But everything changes when Ben takes an illegal leap into the past, leaving the team to solve the mystery of why he did it. By Ben’s side during his jumps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She is a distinguished Army veteran who carries out her job with level-headed precision.
At the helm of the top-secret operation is Herbert “Magic” Williams (Ernie Hudson), a no-nonsense career military man who must answer to his bosses, who will not be happy to learn of the breach of protocol. The rest of the team at headquarters consists of Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who leads the artificial intelligence department “Ziggy” and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), who leads digital security for the project.
