The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace of Colombia (Indepaz) reported this Thursday on the assassination of the 11th peace signatory so far in 2022 and the 310th since the signing of the agreement in 2016.

The victim has been identified as Jorge Canchi Ramos, who was murdered in the municipality of El Tambo, department of Cauca.
“This 42yearold native man was murdered and his body found in the village of 20 de Julio and local residents referred him to the Playa Rica Community Action Board,” Indepaz reported.
The statement detailed that the event took place on Wednesday and that Canchi Ramos was in the process of reestablishing himself and managing a farm.
It also became known that the ombudsman had already issued an early warning for the municipalities of Argelia, Balboa and El Tambo about an increase in acts of violence by armed groups.
According to the institute, the armed groups in the region are also allegedly responsible for threatening and seriously injuring human rights defenders, social leaders, teachers, members of community organizations and signatories to the peace accords.
The day before, Indepaz also reported on the 25th massacre recorded in Colombia this year, 2022, which killed three people.
