The 25-year-old influencer inadvertently sparked a furious online debate after she told her followers she’d never been drunk because she thought it sounded “really stressful” and “not fun.”
Aspin Oward, a YouTube star and mother of two from Utah, opened up about her thoughts on alcohol and drinking in a recent TikTok video when a follower asked if she had ever been drunk, adding that they thought the online star would “cheerful” while drinking alcohol.
“The answer is no, I haven’t heard,” the mother of two children answered. “I don’t think I would like it because I would just be worried about tomorrow.”
Aspin went on to explain that she doesn’t want to risk waking up with no memory of last night, saying, “I have no idea what I did or what I said.” It’s really stressful.
“And I would probably feel like shit after that, I just don’t think it sounds like a lot of fun to me.”

Her comments sparked something of a firestorm in the comments section, where viewers quickly began to complain about her suggestion that drinking alcohol always causes blackouts and a night to be forgotten.
“Okay Aspin, you can just get drunk and have fun!” one person wrote, and another simply said: “Drinking does not mean forgetting everything.”
Then one person chimed in: “You don’t always switch off. I never lost consciousness, I always remember everything the next day!”
“You can definitely get a pleasant high, remember everything and feel good the next day!” said the other.
“Aspin is smoky… drunk… drunk… and fainting drunk. You will know your limit,” someone else advised.
Others urged her to try drinking: one asked her to make a “drunk” YouTube video, and another suggested she have a few drinks at home with her husband Parker, writing: “Who said you had to go? [out]?! Stay home with Parker and get drunk together! Just drink plenty of water.”
Aspin also insisted that she “could have fun without” alcohol, adding that she thought she “would worry” about drinking even if she didn’t pass out or forget what happened.
Her confession caused an uproar in the comment section, where many people pointed out that drunkenness does not necessarily mean blackouts or memory loss.
Several commenters said they were drunk several times, never forgetting what they did the night before or passing out.
Other people have urged Aspin to try drinking, with one suggesting that she try drinking at home with her husband Parker, whom she married in October 2015.
Several TikTok users criticized comments calling for Aspin to drink, prompting the influencer to speculate, “I think a lot of people have a drinking problem, but they don’t realize it.”
Some wondered if Aspin had ever tasted alcohol, prompting the online star to insist that she had drank before, it’s just that she’d never been intoxicated because “it’s bad for your health.”
Several followers have come to the influencer’s defense, with many wondering why so many people encourage her to drink when she has made it clear that she has no interest in alcohol.
“You don’t need to pass out!!” she doesn’t want to drink, why are you trying to convince her? one person asked.
Another wrote: “You all in the comments tried to convince her to drink…she also said it was disturbing, leave the girl alone.”
“Why is everyone trying to convince her to drink? Super weird,” someone else added, prompting Aspin to reply, “I think a lot of people have a drinking problem and they don’t realize it, haha.”
A number of people were also skeptical of her claims, with one insisting: “It’s impossible that you don’t drink at parties in [high school].’
Aspin addressed those doubts in a separate video, replying, “I don’t actually [drink in high school] and I feel like a lot of people didn’t know when we were in high school.”
She explained that because she grew up in Utah and had many friends who follow the Mormon faith, which forbids drinking, drinking was not a big part of the culture when she was in high school.
“I had different groups of friends,” she continued. “I had Mormon friends who never drank at all, they never even tried drinking outside of school.
Speaking about her high school experience, Aspin (pictured with her husband and two daughters) said that drinking wasn’t a big part of the culture.
The influencer explained that she grew up with a lot of Mormon friends whose faith forbids them from drinking alcohol.
“Then I had friends who weren’t Mormons… I’m sure they tried drinking in high school, at least they tried, but they didn’t get drunk at every party either.
“I feel like people started drinking more after school. I’m from Utah, so it’s a little different here.”
Aspin noted that her high school experiences seem to be very different from those of people who grew up elsewhere, noting that this became even more apparent to her recently when she discussed the HBO series Max Euphoria, which documented the drug. – fueled by the antics of a fictional group of teenagers.
“I was talking to someone about Euphoria the other day and she said she couldn’t watch it because it was too addictive and too similar to her high school experience,” she said.
“I just thought it was so interesting because I have never come across any of these situations.
“Obviously because Yuta isn’t that crazy… but there wasn’t much drinking at the parties. There weren’t even that many parties.
“Some people definitely drank, I’m not saying there weren’t any, but I’m saying that for the most part my friends—even my friends who weren’t Mormons—didn’t really drink much in High School. It wasn’t easy for everyone to be drunk all the time.”
