Fran Drescher talks ups and downs of online dating and apps: “It’s fun for a while”

Fran Drescher opened up about her dating life in a new interview ahead of her appearance on NBC series The Mayor.

The actress, 64, spoke to E! News about her character on the show, an actress named Angelica, who is having a date with Ted Danson’s title character, Neil Bremer.

“I loved that the character they wrote for me was kind of off the beaten track and sexy and free and living her life her way,” said Drescher. “It’s not the norm for them to necessarily write like that to a woman who’s 60. So I responded really, really positively to that.’

The Nanny star recalled how she’s had awkward dating experiences in the past for a variety of reasons.

“I’ve had dates with guys where we’ve had arguments about how we were going to raise this imaginary child that we were never going to have because we were clearly completely different people who were going to have different parenting styles,” the indebted actress said.

She added, “Anyone who ever says anything that even suggests or implies any prejudice of anyone, it’s like, ‘OK, I’ve got a headache, we’re not even going to order dinner.'”

The Emmy-nominated beauty said she has no success when it comes to dating apps.

“I tried an app once and found none of the guys seemed honest about how they presented themselves,” Drescher said. “They weren’t as successful as their profile suggested, some of them smoked.”

Drescher said one problem that comes with online dating is that men are dishonest about their ages and accomplishments.

“Even though I’ve been with people who haven’t been as successful as me, I’ve learned the hard way that it’s fun for a while, but then, but then, eventually they start teasing you for what you’re doing for.” paying for everything and more than you have and for making them more successful than they are,” said the New York native. “It’s starting to scratch the male ego.

“So I won’t do that anymore because it’s too painful for me. I don’t want to be blamed for my success.’

Drescher said she’s “in a place right now” where she wants to start dating again.

“I’m just starting to dip my toe in the water again and say look for me,” the actress said. “After my last relationship and certainly through COVID, [I went through] a time when I got more into having a relationship with myself and it was going very well.
