Anne Heche was involved in a horrific car accident in Los Angeles that left her brain dead, which is death in California, although she is still on life support pending evaluation from an organ donor. Law enforcement authorities had investigated the accident but have dropped the investigation due to recent events.
“As of today, no further investigative efforts will be made in this case,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement shared by People. “Any information or records requested prior to this turn of events will continue to be collected for the sake of formality as it arrives and will be included in the overall case. If a person suspected of a crime expires, we do not present them for examination.”
Anne Heche was spotted by The Masked Singer before she crashed
On August 5, Heche was driving a blue Mini Cooper that crashed into an LA apartment that caught fire. The ‘Six Days Seven Nights’ actor was taken to the hospital with burns. On Friday, August 12, her family released a statement after doctors said she was brain dead.
“We have lost a bright light, a kind and cheerful soul, a loving mother and a faithful friend,” the statement said. “Anne will be missed dearly, but she lives on through her beautiful sons, iconic work and passionate advocacy. Her bravery in always standing in her truth and spreading her message of love and acceptance will continue to have a lasting impact.”
