Bed Bath & Beyond is closing more than 50 stores. Here they are

Bed, Bath & Beyond the messy '90s beauty isn't for the internet ageThe downsizing is part of the struggling retailer’s latest effort to stabilize as it grapples with financial turmoil. In addition to closing stores, the company announced in August that it was laying off about 20% of its employees and downsizing some of its in-house homewares stores. It also secured important $500 million in new funding as the holiday shopping season approaches.

“All currently planned store closures have been announced and we will continue to review our portfolio where it makes sense to profitably support our customers and our business,” the company said in a statement.

It’s a difficult time for the home goods chain. Earlier this month, Gustavo Arnal, the retailer’s CFO, jumped to his death from a New York City skyscraper. Arnal has been named as a defendant in a class action lawsuit alleging that he, Ryan Cohen and other major shareholders participated in a “pump and dump” scheme designed to artificially inflate the price of the company’s stock.

Bed Bath & Beyond said in August that sales in stores open for at least a year fell 26% in the most recent quarter.
