A Lyft driver is accused of raping a drunk passenger after taking her to a bar in Miami Beach, which she had just left because she was vomiting.

Kevin Rojas, 28, was arrested on Tuesday on charges of sexually abusing a helpless victim, punishable by up to 40 years in prison.

Rojas appeared in court on Wednesday when a judge set his bail at $ 500,000 and ordered him to hand over his Colombian and American passports.

Rojas picked up the drunken tourist around 4.45am and said he had commented on her dress before she fell asleep in the back seat of the travel-sharing car. Local10.

According to the report, the passenger woke up when Rojas’ phone rang, indicating that they had arrived at her destination.

But instead of stopping by the woman’s hotel and letting her go, she said Rojas continued to drive.

Some time later, according to the report, Rojas parked his car, got in the back seat with the passenger, lifted her dress against her will and allegedly raped her. CNN.

Following the alleged rape, police said Rojas drove the woman back to her hotel, where she immediately called 911 to report the crime.

The report claims that the surveillance video confirms that Rojas originally passed the passenger’s hotel before returning to leave her there.

Rojas’ father denied that his son had raped anyone, telling a Local10 reporter that he believed the prosecutor was lying and that the sexual encounter was by mutual consent.

A Lyft spokesman called the allegations against Rojas “horrific” and said he had been permanently removed from the travel-sharing service.

Court records show that Rojas was arrested in November 2020 on charges of aggravated assault, but was later dropped and the case closed in February 2021.
