A startling moment when a man uses a blown up toy for the pool to save the greyhound Sally from the floods
- The greyhound named Sally was dragged to safety in an exploded pool toy
- The home was destroyed by floods on Sunday, along with many others in Brisbane
- Her owner, Malcolm, managed to save her and escape alone on a boogie board
A rescue hound named Sally was dragged to safety on an exploded toy in the pool after being caught in raging floods in Brisbane.
Stunning footage shows Sally owner Malcolm Myers pulling the dog ashore after being forced to say goodbye to his house.
Standing shirtless in the chest-high waters, Mr. Myers carefully guided Sally through the murky brown waters before rushing back to his home in Windsor to get what he could and escape on a bodyboard.
His wife, Kate Christensen, who was visiting her parents with their baby at Sunshine Coast at the time, said both her husband and their dog were not doing well with the water.

“I knew it would take him a long time to do that,” she said
“That’s why I was so proud of him for all the effort he tried to save our house while he was there alone, and his courage to go into the water.”
Their home was destroyed by floods on Sunday, along with countless other houses in Brisbane.
They estimate they have lost 80% of their belongings, including a $ 20,000 collection of cookbooks.
Mr Myers and Mrs Christensen, both 35, failed to provide content insurance.
Now the couple is staying somewhere temporary, as many other Australians are trying to rebuild their lives this week.
A GoFundMe was created to help the family recover.
