  • Russia is suspending rocket engine sales to the United States, according to Reuters.

  • “Let them fly on something else, on their brooms,” said Dmitry Rogozin, Russia’s space chief.

  • He claims that since the 1990s, Russia has supplied 122 RD-180 engines to the United States.

Russia has stopped selling US rocket engines in response to sanctions, This was stated on Thursday by the head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin, Reuters reported.

“In a situation like this, we can’t supply the United States with our best rocket engines in the world. Let them fly on something else, on their brooms, I don’t know what,” Rogozin told state television.

Rogozin claims that since the 1990s, Russia has supplied 122 RD-180 engines to the United States and 98 have been used. As part of the decision, Russia will stop servicing rocket engines, which means that the 24 that are not used will be without the help of the Russians.

On Thursday, Roscosmos also announced that it would no longer cooperate with Germany in research at the International Space Station.

Since last week, Russia has been attacking Ukraine with prolonged ground and air strikes across the country. Russian rocket attacks have struck apartments, an orphanage and a children’s hospital, according to the Ukrainian government.

Russia’s campaign so far has provoked widespread condemnation from the international community and united Western nations in an unprecedented way, unleashing a comprehensive campaign of sanctions against Putin and his allies.
