As it has every year since 2000, the US company Pantone has chosen the color it believes will influence fashion, art and design in 2023: it is called “Viva Magenta” and in the classification of the company that produces it as a “nuanced crimson shade that has a balance between warm and cool”, has the code 18-1750. Pantone explains that Viva Magenta is an “unconventional color for unconventional times”: According to the company, “assertive but not aggressive”, “exudes dynamism” and its “exuberance” promotes joy and optimism.

Pantone is probably the world authority on color, a role it has achieved starting with the classification it invented to catalog them, which has become the most used. Last year, it had chosen “Very Peri” as its color for 2022, a shade of blue streaked with red-purple that the company says shows “a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that enlivens our creative spirit.”
