The 45-year-old thus confirms the many rumors that have been circulating about him in recent weeks and is resigning from his position, which he has held since March 8, 2021. Also, he won’t be the only one to have the veil lifted for Ohio, who will be followed by Kwame Ampadu, fitness coach Jules Gueguen and video analyst Maxime Chalier as assistant coaches. As a result, the Montreal-based organization has had to find a ninth head coach since making its debut in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2012.

“Despite the efforts of Wilfried’s club to continue our project, we had to accept his decision to leave the organization. We want people who want to be with us, and Wilfried wanted to take a different path,” CF Montreal President and CEO Gabriel Gervais said in a statement. I thank him for his long association with the club and in particular for what he has achieved with the first team over the last two seasons. We wish him and his assistants the best of luck in the rest of their careers.

“I thank Wilfried for his two years as head coach. I would have liked to continue the club project with him. Despite his departure, our philosophy remains the same, added CF Montreal Vice President and Chief Sports Officer Olivier Renard. The process of hiring the next head coach is already underway and I am confident about the future.

Nancy led CG to second place in the MLS Eastern Conference in 2022. However, their men were defeated by New York City FC in the Eastern semifinals.
