President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) met Argentine President Alberto Fernández this Monday 2nd in Brasília.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held a series of bilateral meetings this Monday 2nd with Heads of State attending his inauguration ceremony in Brasilia on Sunday 1st. The meetings began around 9:30 am at the Foreign Ministry headquarters near the Planalto Palace.

Besides them, Lula talked to them President of GuineaBissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalóand stated “that Brazil will once again make Africa a priority in its relations with the world”.

Also on Monday, some of the PT government ministers took office. The event is only a formality considering that the nomination of the 37 has already been published in the “Official Gazette”.
Among them are: Fernando Haddad (Farm); Juscelino Filho (Communication); Camilo Santana (Education); Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno (aviation); Rui Costa (civilian staff); Daniela Carneiro (Tourism); Nísia Trindade (health); Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations); Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture); Wellington Dias (Social Development); Márcio França (ports and airports); Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat of the Presidency); Alexandre Silveira (Mining and Energy); Margareth Menezes (culture); Mauro Vieira (External Relations); and Flávio Dino (Justice and Public Safety).
The latter delivered a powerful speech, signaling a change of course towards former President Jair Bolsonaro’s leadership and pledging to protect the poorest and minorities, in addition to committing to investigate the case of Marielle Franco’s death in 2018.
