“Barbie” goes to the summer of 2023 – CinemaCon
The news comes as the film grossed more than $760 million worldwide in its first week and reached 4.1 million households on HBO Max. That surpassed the viewing figures of last year’s Warner Bros. day-and-date films like Suicide Squad, Dune, Wonder Woman 1984 and The Matrix Resurrections. The Batman marks Warner’s first theatrical release since Christopher Nolan’s Tenet in August 2020, after the studio enacted a pandemic theater day-and-date strategy on its 2021 roster, including December 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984.

The Batman witnesses the Riddler (Paul Dano), a sadistic serial killer, begin murdering important political figures in Gotham. This forces Batman to investigate the city’s hidden corruption, which could result in the history of the Wayne family being rewritten. Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis also star.
HBO Max also has a Batman spinoff series in the works centered around Farrell’s penguin.
Reeves took the stage briefly and said to the exhibitors: “Thank you all for your tremendous support for The Batman. We couldn’t have done it without the trust and enthusiasm of all your teams around the world. I look forward to diving back into that world for the next chapter.”
