Former Montreal Expos pitcher Pedro Martinez had an appointment at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in Ontario on Saturday to be honored.

Martinez was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame in 2018 and joins Jeff Francis, who was elected that year, and Justin Morneau and Duane Ward, members of the class of 2020.

This induction weekend was also meant to be a time to celebrate Quebec Descriptor Jacques Doucet, but unfortunately he was unable to travel to St Marys due to health reasons. John Olerud was also missing.

Canada’s Basaball Hall of Fame has already expressed its desire to welcome and celebrate Mr. Doucet and John Olerud with their families in 2023.

Speaking of Martinez, he obviously owes his induction to Canada’s Hall of Fame to his time at the Expos. The Dominican shooter played four seasons for the Montreal club from 1994 to 1997. Notably, he won the National Cy Young Trophy at the end of his senior season at the Expos after posting a 17-8 record and a brilliant 1.90 earned run average. Martinez also ended that famous season with 13 full games and four shutouts.
