A difficult time for the wife of Bruce Willis – TVA Nouvelles

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming has admitted her life has been particularly difficult since her husband’s dementia diagnosis Page six.

On Monday, she gave an interview on the Today show for the first time since her husband’s diagnosis.

Emma Heming admitted it was difficult to know whether Bruce Willis was aware of his deteriorating health.

“Dementia is difficult,” said the 45-year-old. It’s hard for the person diagnosed, it’s also hard for the family. »

“When they say it’s a family disease, it really is,” she added.

In March 2022, Willis’ family publicly announced that he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that affects a person’s ability to process language and communicate. The actor had therefore stopped acting.

Almost a year later, in February 2023, the 68-year-old’s family announced that his condition had “progressed” and that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

Emma Heming, who proudly describes herself as “Willis’ care partner,” said news of the actor’s diagnosis was both a “blessing and a curse.”

This allowed him to “understand what was happening so he could accept the situation.”

She clarified: “It doesn’t make it any less painful, but just knowing what’s happening to Bruce makes everyday life easier.” »

Despite everything, she tries to keep her spirits up.

“I have to make conscious efforts every day to live the best life possible,” she said. I do this for myself, I do this for our two children and [je fais ça pour] Bruce, who didn’t want me to live any other way. »
