Dufour, of Haitian descent but adopted by a Chicoutimi family as a teenager, appeared at the Quebec courthouse on Friday morning.

The kidnapping happened around 11:30 a.m., but Dufour and the child were found minutes later. The infant, under a year old, was found in another apartment while the accused was arrested by police a few meters away.
