Scottish comedian Robbie Coltrane, best known for his role as Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series, has died at the age of 72, his agent Belinda Wright announced on Friday October 14. “Robbie was a unique talent (…) For decades to come, he will probably be best remembered as Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, a role that brought joy to children and adults around the world, cited in particular by the press release British newspaper The Telegraph (article in English).
In that text, Belinda Wright also pointed out that Robbie Coltrane “won three consecutive Best Actor Baftas for his portrayal of Fitz on the series ‘Cracker'” in the 1990s. The comedian had also acted in James Bond’s series of films twice, most notably GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough.
“I will remember him as a loyal customer and also as a wonderful actor,” said the actor’s agent, who has played Hogwarts’ ‘Keeper of the Keys and Grounds’ eight times.
