Wayne Carey has made a series of crude admissions about the affair with his teammate’s life that ended his career in a series of extraordinary tweets on his Twitter account.
The 52-year-old AFL legend bragged on the social media site on Wednesday night that he slept with Anthony Stevens’ wife Kelli “three times” during their infamous affair in 2002.
Carey’s tweets began with him expressing his opinion on AFL teams trading players.
“If your club gets a player who plays your position? “This should always serve as motivation to have the best pre-season you’ve ever had,” the former Kangaroos star wrote.
“Difference between being good and being great??” “Absolutely nothing beats hard work #Fair.”

But fans were quick to remember that Carey had changed clubs in 2002: “How come you swapped clubs?” One fan cheekily commented on the thread, to which Carey replied: “Really?”
“Have you not worked hard enough?” another added to the banter.
Several others amplified the joke until one user explained that Carey had been swapped with teammate Anthony Stevens’ wife, Kelli, following his extramarital affair.
“He slept with his teammate’s wife!” the account wrote, to which the soccer star replied “3 times.”
The fraudulent posts didn’t stop there – the same fan jokingly asked the football star he was “back on his bags”, referencing Carey’s incident at the Perth Crown Casino after a bag of white powder fell out of his pocket, when he played there.

He later claimed the powder was crushed anti-inflammatory and painkiller.
Carey’s reaction to the “bag” remark on Twitter was simply a laughing emoji.
It’s unclear whether Carey’s social media account was hacked.
Carey’s affair with Stevens’ now ex-wife sent the football world into a frenzy when they were caught in the toilet at a house party, leading to the two-time Premier League captain leaving the club in disgrace.
It’s a rift that has never been healed.
Last year the pair were at Yarraville’s Railway Hotel for a premiere meeting in 1996 when Carey reportedly “attacked” Stevens.
Witnesses claimed that Carey accused Stevens of “talking behind his back and telling people that he was unavailable and that he didn’t bother to catch up with him, but then he was fine in person.”
Stevens and Carey played together for North Melbourne from 1989 to 2001 before the betrayal was revealed.
After leaving the club in disgrace, Carey joined the Adelaide Crows in 2003 and took on his former teammates in a heated duel that saw him face Stevens.
Following Carey’s departure, Stevens was named club captain.
In an interview with veteran journalist Mike Sheahan on Fox Footy in 2015, Stevens said he told his ex-teammate at the time to “hang in there” but was also disappointed with Carey’s behavior after the betrayal.
“That’s the one thing he never did,” Stevens said when Sheahan asked if Carey had apologized.
“He never actually bothered to apologize – for whatever reason.”
