Almost 1,500 people this Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Fort-de-France, according to the police. Much more according to the organizers, who seem to have succeeded in mobilizing more in Le Lamentin than last time.

The major organizations united as a union monitor the march (CGTM, CDMT, FO, CSTM, CFTC, CGC, UNSA, FSU, CGTM/FSM, etc.).

At the request of Bertrand Cambusy, Secretary General of the CSTM, the carnival groups that attract so many visitors are welcome. The popular Group A, consisting of many young people, of course takes part in the demonstration with their instruments and their usual cheerfulness.

Staff at the Ducos Correctional Center stayed close to where they worked but spoke outside for a few moments to express their opposition to the Senate pension reform project.

At daybreak, users find that it is impossible to enter the areas of California, Jambette or Lézarde.

“Employees exit their vehicles to walk to work,” notes a Jambette regular.

“This causes traffic jams between the Galleria bridge and the Lézarde bridge, which is completely closed,” adds another.

The union must determine the follow-up to the movement in the coming hours.
