Alyssa Milano Defends Asking for Money for Her Son's Baseball Fundraiser, Says She's Making a 'Financial' Contribution

Alyssa Milano defends her request for donations for her son's baseball fundraiser.

“I'm getting inquiries from the media about whether I financially supported my son's baseball team,” the actress tweeted on Friday, explaining: “I paid for the uniforms for the entire team and coaches, threw birthday parties and sponsored every kid who did “I can't afford the monthly contributions.”

Milano, 51, added that “the kids also do their own fundraising” in the form of “car washes, movie nights and lots of other fun things!”

Finally, she thanked those “who contributed to the Gofundme” and noted that they “made the job easier for these boys and their families.”

The “Charmed” star sent her Twitter followers into a frenzy on Thursday after she posted a link to a GoFundMe to help her 12-year-old son Milos' team, Birds 12U, raise $10,000 “for their Cooperstown -Travel” to collect.

“Any amount would be greatly appreciated,” she wrote, while the fundraising page explained that contributions would be used for “travel expenses,” “uniforms,” “family contributions,” and “pins or novelties to make.” [their] Tournaments become unforgettable experiences off the field.”

Given that Milano is a famous and successful actress, the request shocked the majority of those who commented on the post.

“Why doesn’t Alyssa Milano pay for the entire team’s travel herself?” one critic wondered, while another reiterated, “Why does she charge money from people who can barely buy food?”

“I made a small but heartfelt contribution. “Sounds like a great experience for her,” one supporter remarked, while another praised Milano, writing, “This is amazing. You've done so much for so many.”
