The spokesman confirmed that the case was “pending”.

The order was a formality after the jury returned its verdict on June 1, largely following a sensational six-week trial in which the couple revealed lurid details of their brief marriage during a televised trial that was closely followed on social media sided with Depp.

Depp sued Heard, to whom he was married from 2015 to 2017, over a December 2018 article she wrote in The Washington Post in which she described herself as “a public figure who depicts domestic violence.”

The jury ruled in Depp’s favor on all three of his allegations regarding certain statements in the 2018 play.

The jury found that Depp should receive $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages, but the judge reduced the punitive damages to $350,000, below a state cap.

Heard has announced that he will appeal the verdict.
