Aspen Ladd vs. Sara McMann canceled after weight loss

Aspen Ladd’s inability to gain weight has resulted in another of her fights being canceled.

Ladd (9-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) came in at two pounds for her scheduled women’s bantamweight fight with Sara McMann (13-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC) at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 210 at the UFC Apex and as a result, the fight was scrapped.

UFC officials announced the news following Friday’s official weigh-in session of UFC Fight Night 210.

Things are looking bad for Ladd, who has a well-documented history of poor weight loss. In September 2018, Ladd lost the weight and had a fight with Leslie Smith canceled after Smith refused to fight an overweight opponent. She had a scary scene of shaking on the scales prior to a July 2019 fight with Germaine de Randamie, for which she ultimately hit the mark but suffered a quick TKO loss.

More recently, Ladd missed weight for an October 2021 fight with Macy Chiasson, which was cancelled. She then competed in the women’s featherweight division for a fight – which she lost to Norma Dumont – before moving back down. She made it to the women’s bantamweight division for an April fight with Raquel Pennington before that latest incident.
