Authorities said Lisa Marie Presley died as a result of bariatric surgery she underwent a few years ago.
The death of the singer, songwriter, daughter and heiress to Elvis Presley on January 12 at the age of 54 has been ruled a natural death of complications from an obstruction in the small intestine.

More details about the cause of Presley’s death were provided in an autopsy report released Thursday by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
According to the report, the complication that Presley suffered was a common complication of bariatric surgery, which is a weight loss procedure. The Mayo Clinic says this is often done when other weight loss methods have not worked or when a person has a serious medical condition.
Presley died at a Los Angeles hospital, where paramedics rushed her while responding to an 911 call from a woman in cardiac arrest at her home. At this time, no evidence has been released as to what may have caused the medical issue.
According to the autopsy report, she had complained of stomach pains earlier in the day.
She was buried at a funeral on January 22 at Graceland, the house where she lived with her father as a child and which has become a museum, tourist attraction and shrine for Elvis fans.
Presley is survived by three daughters, 34-year-old actor Riley Keough and 15-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood. A son, Benjamin Keough, died in 2020.
Immediately after her death, it appeared that a major legal battle would ensue over Presley’s estate. Four days after her funeral, her mother, Priscilla Presley, filed court documents challenging a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie Presley’s living trust that replaced Priscilla Presley and a former executive as trustees and her two eldest children replaced.
But Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough – who now acts as sole trustee – agreed to a settlement in May.
Riley Keough was nominated for her first Emmy on Wednesday, for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Made for TV for Daisy Jones & the Six.
