Congratulations! BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood revealed she is on the show live on Monday morning as she flashes her sparkling new engagement ring
During the morning show, Carol appeared live from the Chelsea Flower Show – but as soon as the camera swung to her, Sally and Jon were more excited about her good news than the show.
Noting the shimmering ring on her left hand, Sally teased, “I’m a little worried about you this morning, I don’t know how you manage to get up with that huge rock on your left hand,” as Jon laughed alongside her.
Blushing, the meteorologist giggled and said, “Oh that? Thanks, yes it’s pretty nice, I got engaged.
Pressing Carol for some details, Sally continued, “Can we confirm to the nation what happened?”

The work can wait! During the morning show, Carol appeared live from the Chelsea Flower Show – but as soon as the camera swung to her, Sally and Jon were more excited about her good news than the show
“I think you just got Sal! Yes I got engaged, we got engaged while we were on holiday so that’s great news and we’re both thrilled,” Carol replied.
A delighted Jon said he and everyone in the studio were delighted with Carol as Sally began a round of applause for her colleague.
Although Carol keeps her relationship with her mysterious fiancé fairly under wraps in public, she previously gushed that her boyfriend was “the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Chatting with Prima Magazine in 2021, the TV star said: “He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it’s 2:45am and he often leaves me a little love note when I come home from work.
“That’s worth a million red roses to me,” she explained.
Carol was previously married to cricketer Jimmy Kirkwood but the couple separated in 2008 after 18 years of marriage.
