The Californian actress reflected on her long career: “Personally, I’ve been conditioned in the TV/movie business since my youth never to get sick or it would cost tens of thousands of dollars.

She continued, “Apparently that was always better than speaking out and just letting them shift their schedule to accommodate someone’s health.

“Because it just didn’t happen.”

Moving on, Lewis referred to cases of “people who died behind the wheel” because they were overworked.

Mention was also made of employees’ propensity to work under threat of being replaced if they were not “serving production”.

“I’ve seen some big changes since the COVID protocols and how long the hours are and how I’ve taken care of people’s health. But that was in Canada,” she admitted.

“Producers are still asking people to work tirelessly and constantly perform miracles to ‘save them money’ rather than creating schedules that are doable without their constant pressure,” she added.

“When people are overworked and exhausted, big mistakes happen,” Lewis said, before adding that she’s “experienced incidents that harm individuals.”

The longtime entertainer said: “I implore every actor to speak out on behalf of your crew and ask that executives and producers provide proper support for health/care/pay and prevent the need for a strike.

“Show up for the backbone of our industry. [It’s] Time, it’s overtime!!!’
