“Buzz Lightyear”: Peruvian cinema chain retracts warning about “gender theory”.

A cinema chain in Peru has withdrawn the “gender theory” warning it previously attached to the animated film “Buzz Lightyear,” which depicts a kissing scene between two women.

The warning issued by Cine Planet when the film was released on Thursday sparked a fierce controversy in Peru. An association for the protection of the family welcomed this, while feminists, on the contrary, denounced Cine Planet’s homophobia.

Finally, given the controversy, the distributor said in a statement on Saturday that the warning was inappropriate.

The film, from Pixar Studios, was released in many countries including the United States on Friday and in France next Wednesday.

However, he was not granted a work visa in a dozen Muslim-majority countries and territories in the Middle East and Asia, including Malaysia, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Territories.

In the film, Alisha, the head of the main character (Buzz Lightyear, the intrepid astronaut made famous by the saga “Toy Story”), is married to a woman.

A fleeting scene in which she kisses her wife was originally edited by Pixar Studios, a Disney subsidiary. But employees at those companies had stood up, criticizing the stance of the world’s leading entertainment industry, accusing it of a lack of commitment to defending LGBT people’s rights, and the scene had been restored.
