Cameroon: A businessman is accused of raping hundreds of women and kidnapping some of them

A Metoo wave is sweeping across Cameroon. For several days, a businessman from Douala has been accused by many Internet users on social networks of rape, sexual violence, kidnapping and pimping, reports RFI.

It was one Nzui Manto who raised the alarm by denouncing the jetsetter's actions. Since then, social networks have been taken over by men and women who want to report on the terrible acts that Hervé Bopda allegedly committed against them in many cities across the country such as Yaoundé, Kribi, Limbe and Buea.

In these testimonies, Hervé Bopda is described as a violent man who threatened his victims with a weapon. In total, Nzui Manto would have received more than 1,000 messages on this topic. According to initial information from the whistleblower, the jet setter is said to have raped hundreds of women and kidnapped some of them.

Other personalities denounced

Other victims would have simply disappeared after crossing paths with the suspect, who is none other than the son of billionaire Emmanuel Bopda. However, Hervé Bopda is not the only person targeted by these testimonies. And for good reason: he is accused of building a huge pimp network that includes numerous influencers, artists, business actors and high-ranking Cameroonian law enforcement officials. So many names are mentioned in certain witness statements.

According to our colleagues, the Human Rights Commission of the Cameroon Bar Association has asked the prosecutor of the Yaoundé Court of First Instance to take up the case. A group of lawyers also filed a complaint against Hervé Bopda, who countered by filing a defamation complaint against the whistleblowers.
