“It's hard to leave, it feels like your child, but you want it to be in good hands and I know that's exactly what it will be with you.” Send everyone as much love to Jordan as possible. '
Jordan said: “I'm thrilled to be joining Global and waking up the nation every morning at Capital – I can't wait to work with the amazing team here and join in to create the funniest and most entertaining breakfast show.”
“It has always been a dream of mine to host Capital Breakfast and it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I just couldn’t turn down.”
Last week it was revealed that the former I'm A Celeb star has left Radio One's iconic Going Home show and will be replaced by 35-year-old Jamie Laing, who will take his place – Mondays to Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – alongside Vick Hope.
Shortly after the news broke, insiders revealed to The Sun that Jordan had signed a major deal with the rival broadcaster.
The source said: “Jordan is moving to Capital FM to replace Roman and he couldn't be more excited. “This is absolutely huge for him and although it's hard to leave the BBC, he's looking forward to starting at Capital.
“Jordan’s decision was hard for the BBC to swallow, but there was nothing they could do to change his mind.”
When speaking about how much Capital has meant to him, Roman seemed overwhelmed with emotion as he confessed that it wasn't a decision he ever expected to make.

When speaking about how much Capital has meant to him, Roman seemed overwhelmed with emotion as he confessed that it wasn't a decision he ever expected to make
He explained: “I have a little announcement and it's really strange to say it out loud.” Really strange. If I'm being completely honest, I have no idea how to even begin.
“I'm just going to come out and say it.” This will be the last six weeks of me funding capital, which is a strange statement.
Shaking off his emotions, he continued: “The last eight and a half years of my life have been so incredible to be part of this machine, it has been the funniest, saddest and downright wildest time to be part of Capital and the Global family.”
“When you undertake a task of this magnitude, you never think that one day there will be a moment when you have to say goodbye.” You never think that that day will come.
“What I can tell you is that I'm not saying goodbye now, I'm not leaving the show today and that's it, but it's not far away.”
“It will come and the farewell will come in five to six weeks.” “It's not a decision that was made overnight, it's huge, I didn't find it easy at all.”
Roman lost his best friend and global radio producer Joe Lyons to suicide in August 2020, and the leading man hinted at the tragedy as he spoke of both his “best times” and his “absolute rock bottom.”
He added: “Capital is my family, you being the wonderful listeners you have been, you have been with me through my best times and my absolute lowest times…Capital and Global have helped me change.”

“I was 22 years old when I first came to Capital and it made me the man I am today, that's all I know.” But I know that now is the right time to go and carry on.'
Roman joined Capital in 2014 before hosting the prestigious The Capital Evening Show in 2016.
In 2017 he moved to Capital Breakfast before taking the show nationally in 2019.
He continued: “You're listening, and the people in this room, every single person in this room, my producing team, Sian and Chris, Sonny, who's done it in the past, and Vick Hope, who's done it in the past has.” It’s all of them.
“It will be very tough in the next few weeks, when my time here at Capital is almost coming to an end. I love this place so much, I love it. I love the station, I love everything about it, Capital is my family.
“And I also love the connection that you and I, the listeners, have built together.” It has changed. I know it all started because I was just Martin Kemp's son. I hope you can call me your friend now.'

“But after almost seven years of early warning, I’m looking forward to a few lie-ins and it’s time to pass the baton!”
