CCCP are reborn from the ashes and celebrate their history in Berlin with Andrea Scanzi: “I will accompany them with a monologue at the three special live events”

Great anticipation for the band's three concerts in Berlin “CCCP in DDDR” on February 24th, 25th and 26th (already sold out). They were accompanied by Andrea Scanzi, who had already taken part in their “Punkettone Gran Gala of Words and Images” event in Reggio Emilia

CCCP are reborn from the ashes and celebrate their history

Pro-Soviet punk and Emilian melodic music still live and fight with us. THE CCCP – True to the line, Over 40 years after their founding and after their dissolution in 1990, they returned with many projects. “More than new. New” is the title of the live album released on February 23rd with the rediscovered recording of the concert from June 3rd 1983 in Reggio Emilia with the unreleased songs “Oi Oi Oi” (“We arrived late or maybe too early, anyway” ) appears “If our time does not resemble yours”) and “Onde” (“Morning dreams have no gold in their mouths, morning dreams are foam”). The exhibition can be viewed until March 10th “Congratulations! CCCP – True to the line. 1984 – 2024” in the cloister of San Pietro in Reggio Emilia. Finally, there is great anticipation for the band’s three concerts in Berlin.”CCCP in DDDR” on February 24th, 25th and 26th (already sold out) and ahead of its live return to Italy this summer.

For the concert in the former GDR, in the Astra Kulturhaus, as well as for the “Gran Punkettone Gala of words and picturesi”, with the band will be the journalist Andrea Scanzi, while the director will be Fabio Cherstich. “In 1990, after the release of their last album 'Epica Etica Etnica Pathos' – says Scanzi – CCCP broke up and became CSI in 1992, something completely different. At this moment the important story of the… Soviet punk band and communist of the 1980s. A band that could only exist in those years. The four historical members (Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Massimo Zamboni, Fatur and Annarella) met two years ago because a group of directors and screenwriters, fascinated by the history of CCCP, made the documentary “Kissing Gorbachev,” which was also released in the cinema. The documentary tells the story of this historic moment and the end of their journey.”

And again: “The four meet again and Ferretti tells me that a spark was reborn, as if they had never said goodbye years ago. Furthermore, after a rather heated discussion, Ferretti and Zamboni did not speak to each other for over twenty years. “So the CCCP sleeper cell is waking up,” Ferretti tells me. On the occasion of the band's 40th birthday, a very beautiful exhibition is being set up in a castle in Reggio Emilia. All of their history and memorabilia are on display. This initiative gave rise to the event “Gran Gala Punkettone of Words and Images”, which took place last October at the Teatro Municipale Valli in Reggio Emilia, both dates of which sold out in just three minutes. The two dates go very well and the four are happy to have found each other again. On this occasion they played 6-7 songs and it was not a real concert as there was a lecture moderated by Daria Bignardi with an interview along the lines of “Le Invasioni Barbariche” and then I spent about ten years with an ad hoc Monologue maintained protocol. It was a crazy concert show.

What happens next? “Zamboni, Fatur and Annarella consider what to do next, while Ferretti, charismatic and complicated, says goodbye to everyone and says enough: he wants to return to his life. But after a few days they think about it again because they liked it and think about concerts in Berlin, where it all began thanks to the meeting between Zamboni and Ferretti. A great opportunity to play where they were born over 40 years ago. Three dates, three sold out. But it won't be the gala that took place in Reggio Emilia, this time we will play for real, with a real concert and a setlist. They just called me back. I'll give the monologue about why we're still here, and why we still like them, after over 40 years in a world that is different and changed. Finally, the band goes on stage to play and sing to the tune of “Emilia Paranoica”. There will be a tour this summer, but I don't know yet whether I will be there or what will happen. How did our meeting come about? They came looking for me last October, I've known them for 25 years. I first interviewed them in 1997 when they were CSI. In 2022 I interviewed Ferretti and we liked each other. It was a nice interview, but he confessed to me: “I saw you on '8 and a Half' and you pissed me off!”. Then he changed his mind (laughs, editor's note).”
