A Chinese aerospace agency has declared the test of the country’s largest booster rocket engine a success before China intends to fly astronauts to the moon to build a base.
With a combined 500-ton thrust liquid oxygen and kerosene engine and twin nozzles, this space system is the most powerful of its kind on the planet, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and is dubbed the YF-130.
The test was conducted at the Sixth Institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the Asian giant’s largest liquid-fuel rocket development company.
The rocket features an all-digital maintenance design and technological advances, according to the developer quoted by Chinese media.
This device could help transfer a heavy rocket, dubbed Long March 9, which China is developing to send astronauts to the moon in 2030 with a view to developing a research station on the satellite by 2035, in coordination with Russia.
