For the third year in a row, the Quebec public can see hockey player Cole Caufield in a McDonald’s restaurants commercial, but this time he’s sharing the spotlight with a familiar face from the artists’ colony here to promote a rather appetizing hamburger.

Since Tuesday, the number 22 of the Montreal Canadiens has been praising the Maple BBQ Quarter Pounder with bacon on the small screen and on the radio, and he can count on actor Claude Legault to do so.
He has also taken part in a number of campaigns in recent years to sell the virtues of Quebec maple, and his admirers will see a nod to that television past that Legault himself evokes in the 30-second segment.
After a polite greeting in French from Caufield, the actor calls the commercial’s narrator and asks him the reasons for his presence in his house.
As a “maple specialist,” Legault also questions the decision to rely on the attacker trying the new dish.
“This year, it is a matter of great pride to bring together two of the people’s favorite personalities here around a star quarter-pounder made from 100% Canadian maple, an offering that has everything your heart desires,” said Melissa Hains, chief, in a Press Release Marketing Director at McDonald’s Canada.
With the announcement accessible in digital format, the company wanted to combine three elements appreciated by Quebecers, namely hockey, maple and the actor, she recalled. This is the 12th McPlayer™ campaign, with Brendan Gallagher, Jonathan Drouin, Max Pacioretty and Shea Weber taking part, among others.
For those interested, the burger in question is being offered for a limited time. Featuring Canadian beef topped with creamy maple BBQ sauce, hickory smoked bacon slices, crispy onions, melted cheddar and pickles.
