Dani Calabresa would have denounced Melhem after he was dropped from the program

Dani Calabresa’s decision to sue Marcius Melhem for sexual harassment would have come days after the comedian was dropped from a new show on Globo, Fora de Hora.

According to UOL columnist Ricardo Feltrin, witnesses say Dani would have been fired after members of the new comedy board complained about her participation. Melhem then warned that the blonde was not in the plans and that Renata Gaspar would introduce him.

Days later, Calabresa would have gone to the Department of Development and Artistic Supervision (DAA) and filed a moral harassment complaint against Melhem. The sexual harassment complaint, formalized two months later, would have coincided with other information that displeased Dani: that she had not been cast in the yearend comedy special.

Fora de Hora was on the air in the first quarter of 2020 and was shut down, as was Globo’s humor core, which was commanded by Melhem.

Attorney Antônio Carlos de Almeida Castro, representing Calabresa, told Ricardo Feltrin’s column that he would not comment “because the trial is still under judicial secrecy.” Marcius Melhem’s defense stated that the secrecy of the process “does not benefit him and that for him everything would be open, clear and transparent. But as long as there is secrecy, it will be respected.”
