The judges' justifications for the points awarded in the special group parades, published this Friday by the Independent League of Samba Schools (Liesa), showed that Unidos de Vila Isabel lost valuable points due to the clothing and lighting. Likewise, a deleted allegory from second place, Imperatriz Leopoldinense, lost points. There was also a juror who called some of Mangueira's allegories “boxes.” The storyline of Grande Rio, another who entered the fight for the title, was considered “difficult”.

Regarding MestreSala and Porta Bandeira, three of the four judges pointed out that the lighting (or lack thereof) bothered the couple from Vila na Avenida. “The poor lighting and rays from clothing initially made visibility difficult,” wrote Fernando Bersot. Judge João Vlamir praised the “good idea of the costumes” but noted that the “execution was hampered by the darkness at the beginning” which “prevented us from seeing the evolution of the couple.” Mônica Barbosa, on the other hand, emphasized that the darkness that dominated much of the presentation prevented her from seeing the lightness and “connection in the eyes” between the couple. The fact is that the school that competed for the lead in the qualification lost five tenths in this regard and dropped out of the fight for the title. She finished in sixth place, securing a spot in the Parade of Champions.

The lack of light also caused losses for secondplaced Imperatriz Leopoldinense. Judge Madson Oliveira deducted a tenth from the Ramos School due to deficiencies he found in the lighting of Allegories 2 and 4. At the end of the count, the school lost three tenths in this regard, which helped the champion Viradouro gain an advantage in the scoring.

Mangueira also lost important points in Allegories and Adereços. “The idea of 'boxing' as an afterthought, present in most of the allegories, devalued the entirety,” wrote Judge Walber Ângelo de Freitas.

Grande Rio, on the other hand, lost points due to the “difficulty of understanding the plot,” said judge Johnny Soares. He also notes that the Caxias School launched a “complex argument with an excess of subtopics.”

And who would have thought it, the Cashew, which was so successful on the networks before the parades, displeased the judge Cyro Delvizio, who deducted two tenths from the Mocidade sambaenredo because he considered that the “insistence on long notes ( …)” As a result “the choirs lost their power”.
