Demi Moore has confessed she “didn’t love” being part of the Brat Pack.
The 61-year-old Ghost star appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night to discuss the upcoming Andrew McCarthy-led Hulu documentary about The Brat Pack and her feelings about the collective.
The Brat Pack refers to a group of actors who appeared together in coming-of-age films in the 1980s. Most of its members notably appeared in the 1985 John Hughes film The Breakfast Club and the 1985 Joel Schumacher film St. Elmo's Fire.
The documentary is based on the 2021 book Brat: An '80s Story by Andrew McCarthy (61) of the Brat Pack, who starred with Demi in St. Elmo's Fire alongside Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, Mare Winningham and Andie played MacDowell.
When asked what she thought of the group, she said: “I mean, it was very new to do stories about young people.” I don't think any of us really liked the nickname brats. Because it kind of weakened our sense of being professional.”

During an appearance on Good Morning America, Demi further spoke about the film: “Andrew really wanted to explore the impact it had on each of us, because for him it actually had a big impact.” For Rob [Lowe]it just slipped off his back…
“I didn’t like being labeled a brat because I thought it diminished us as professionals. But I didn't wear it.
Demi referred to documentary filmmaker Andrew as “Andy” on the talk show when discussing the documentary, but quickly corrected herself.
She said, “Andrew McCarthy! He will kill me. This paper examines what and how this has affected each of us. Rob, it just rolled off his back. He's good like that. But for Andrew, it really affected him and the things and decisions he made.”
Demi said she hasn't seen the documentary yet and is excited about the show. She said: “I'm sorry that after all this time we haven't had a chance to all be in the same room together.”
Back in May, Andrew posted a throwback photo showing him and Demi alongside St. Elmo's Fire, as well as a recent daytime photo.
He penned a caption that read, “So great to see (for the first time in many years) my St. Elmo's Fire co-star, the wondrous Demi Moore, and catch up on my Brat Pack documentary.”
St Elmo's Fire was released in 1985 and became an instant cult classic. The film starred Demi's boyfriend at the time, Emilio, as well as Ally, Judd and Rob.

“What do you think of when you look back over the years when you first started, sort of lumped together as a unit?” asked Stephen, 59
The cast also included former model-actress Andie and acclaimed stage actress Mare. Demi played the privileged young woman distracted by drugs and heartbreak. The film was co-written and directed by Joel Schumacher.
Demi was on the CBS talk show to promote Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, the second season of the Feud anthology series.
She portrays showgirl and socialite Ann Woodward, who clashed with Capote after his unfinished novel about New York society, Answers to Prayer, offended her.
She explained in detail: “He changes names, but not so often that they don't know.” So the feud is essentially that they let him into the inner circle, even though he was kind of a court jester for their entertainment. And she reveals…
Stephen also asked Demi about her cute dog, Pilaf, and she brought out the pooch
“And so they set about destroying him. Now my character, Ann Woodward, was never accepted into society. She married into it. I'm his first target, so to speak. Because I accidentally killed my husband.
Stephen asked how she “accidentally” killed her husband and Demi said it was an accidental shooting, but Capote called her “Bang Bang the Murderer” in his excerpt.
Demi was shown in a clip confronting the author, who said the story was true and told her it would be an “interesting” chapter.
Feud: Capote vs. The Swans premiered Wednesday on FX. The first two episodes were made available on Hulu the next day.
The eight-part series is based on the book Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer.
The series also stars Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Treat Williams, fellow Brat Pack member Molly Ringwald, and Tom Hollander as Capote.
