(CNN) –– As Disney celebrates its 100th anniversary this Monday, the walls of the company’s animation studio come to life in the new short film “Once Upon a Studio.”
In the 12-minute short, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, with the help of Tinker Bell, lead the charge to gather 543 Disney characters – including villains – for a group photo to commemorate the occasion. Burny Mattinson, who worked as an animator for the company for 70 years, closes the doors of Disney’s animation studio in Burbank as the characters leave the company.
“Let’s attack the whole gang!” says Minnie as she sends out the signal by singing “Yoo-hoo!”
The short film features characters from more than 85 Disney films spanning ten decades.
Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, who voice the “Frozen” characters Anna and Elsa, respectively, along with Jeremy Irons (Scar from “The Lion King”), Jodi Benson (Ariel from “The Little Mermaid”) and 40 other actors, according to Variety have once again lent their voices to the project.
According to producer Brad Simonsen, the ghost from “Aladdin”, voiced by the late Robin Williams, also appears in the short film, using some of the actor’s original footage.
In a touching moment, Mickey Mouse stops in despair in a hallway when he sees a portrait of Walt Disney himself. Mickey takes off his hat, pays his respects to the man who made him, and says, “I have to go, but thanks!” Let’s get on with the show.
Outside, Goofy tries to place the camera on a ladder, but it falls to the ground and the camera breaks.
As the characters begin to sing “When You Wish Upon a Star” from the 1940 animated classic “Pinocchio,” Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother waves her wand to place Goofy and the camera at the top of the stairs as the 543 characters finally move to the Gather photo.
“To everyone who dreamed with us, laughed with us and dreamed with us, thank you,” it says on screen at the end of the short film.
Once Upon a Studio is now available on Disney+.
