EastEnders is facing major date changes that will derail Cindy Beale’s dramatic return to the soap
EastEnders face a major upheaval to their schedule this week in the wake of the World Athletics Championships.
The BBC soap will only air twice this week, delaying the much-anticipated return of fan favorite Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
Viewers will only get a dose of the Albert Square drama on Tuesday and Thursday this week, as the BBC devotes the soap’s slot to the live broadcast of the sporting event in Budapest.
The BBC will double air each episode, making them one hour each.
In June, it was announced that Michelle would be returning to the soap opera with her ex-husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and their son Peter (Thomas Law).
Chaos! EastEnders are facing a huge schedule shakeup that will stall Cindy Beale’s dramatic return ahead of this week’s aftermath
She is back! The residents of Walford are in for a shock when they come face to face with the supposedly dead Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins).
Fans were fooled into believing the mother died in childbirth after plotting to kill her then-husband. However, it turns out that 26 years later, Cindy is still very much alive and has lived a glamorous life in the sun.
At the end of last week’s Thursday episode, the soap aired a shocking new trailer that gave eager fans a glimpse of Cindy’s dramatic return.
In the exciting scenes, Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) looked stunned when Cindy entered the house, despite being presumed dead.
The pair famously scorned each other after Cindy cheated on Kathy’s son Ian with David Wickes and it was teased that the couple will face off again after Cindy’s return.
And their tense argument was soured when Cindy made her grand entrance and Kathy shared her shock as she said: “You’re dead!”
Apparently Cindy is no longer ‘dead’ and will wreak havoc on the BBC soap when she enters Albert Square after claiming she’s always wanted to visit.
In the 30-second trailer, Kathy warned everyone about her plans while her daughter-in-law strolled through Walford.
She wasn’t the only one warning residents about her, as Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) reminds Ian that Cindy has always been a cheat.
It’s unclear who Ian is trying to convince, but he immediately insisted, “It’s different this time!”
Dramatic return: EastEnders released a new trailer that gives a glimpse of Cindy’s dramatic return after years of being presumed dead
‘You are dead!’ In exciting scenes, mother-in-law Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) looks stunned when Cindy enters the house
Wow: Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) reminds Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) that Cindy was always a cheat. It’s unclear who Ian is trying to persuade, but he insists: “It’s different this time!”
Cindy is said to have died while in prison for hiring a hitman to kill Ian.
But it appears she’s lived a double life in witness protection, going by the nickname “Rose Knight.”
In another twist, she was revealed to be the absent wife of Queen Vic’s landlord, George Knight (Colin Salmon), and mother of their two daughters, Gina (Francesca Henry) and Anna (Molly Rainford).
Elsewhere in the exciting trailer, George could be seen looking at a photo of “Rose” – the name Cindy went by when she was dating him.
The identity of Queen Vic landlord’s ex-wife George Knight has been kept secret, but a teaser at the end of Wednesday’s episode showed Cindy answering George’s call while lying on a sun lounger by the pool in France.
Stunned: In the trailer, Anna and Gina (pictured) walk through the market, unaware of the fact that after all this time (pictured with George) they will soon be face to face with their mother.
George could be seen pouring himself a brandy and playing Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose” on the pub jukebox before the scene switched to Cindy, confirming weeks-old assumptions about Rose’s true identity.
In the trailer, Anna and Gina walk around the market giggling, unaware of the fact that after all this time they will soon be face to face with their mother.
Cindy will be forced to make some statements as she returns at the end of the month for a week of storyline episodes.
The comeback will trigger even more drama, which will then start in the fall.
