As a first hitter in the offensive role, Julien was busy raising the curtain by slamming a long single right. The Quebec native returned it in the opening round by catapulting Colton Brewer’s shot 351 feet from home plate.

Michael A. Taylor twice and Carlos Correa added a home run to their record during the duel.

Anthony Rizzo hit solo home runs in the Yankees’ only two runs during the game.

Twins starter Joe Ryan stood out throughout the evening. In seven full innings, he knocked out 10 Yankees batters and only allowed three hits during the game.

Jays can’t sweep tigers

The Toronto Blue Jays lost 3-1 to the Detroit Tigers in the final of the series at the Rogers Center in Toronto.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. produced the Jays’ only point of the game. The first baseman hit a single to center field that allowed Cavan Biggio to cross the plate in the third inning.

Tyler Nevin, Zach McKinstry and Jake Rogers each signed up for the visitors.

Toronto starter Chris Bassit gave up four hits in six full innings and had seven strikeouts.

The bad start to the season of the A continues

Like the Tampa Bay Rays, the Oakland Athletics are fighting for the win early in the season, losing 8-7 to the Orioles in Baltimore.

Oakland left fielder Brent Rooker had a strong afternoon of work. The 28-year-old finished the game with two hits in four plate appearances, including a three-run hit in the third inning.

Ryan Mountcastle and Adleyrutschman each hit a long ball for the Orioles in a duel.
