On the cover of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood Issue 29, Emma told the publication, “My experience on this earth has been a female one until recently, and I still love all those parts of me.

They went on to say that they would take any role in a film, whether it’s female, male or non-binary, as long as it felt right to them.

They added, “The beauty of acting is embracing a character, which doesn’t necessarily have to be entirely consistent with your own experience, it’s a way of exploring.”

Emma also said there aren’t many non-binary roles available right now, as they called for welcoming LGBTQ+ narratives and projects to the film industry.
