Skip to content [Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3, Episode 8 “In the Unlikely Event of an Emergency.”]
After the sudden death of Gwyn (Lisa Edelstein) – she was hit by a bicycle – her son TC (Ronen Rubinstein) and ex-husband Owen (Rob Lowe) go to New York for her funeral. But unfortunately they never succeed 9-1-1: Lone Star.
Instead, an emergency in the air – the plane loses an engine – requires the first responders to intervene, rescuing the woman who was in their line and was briefly sucked out the window. And after doing so, TK admits to Owen that he found him in the fire department earlier, in the ambulance, because he planned to get up so much, nothing mattered. But he knew what that would do to Gwyn, who was the one who put him in rehab (as seen in heartbreaking flashbacks).
Rubinstein breaks the tense episode, which included his best work on the show so far, and irritates what lies ahead for TK, Tarlos and others.
How do you think TK would have reacted if they had reached the funeral?
Ronen Rubinstein: I think TK would have a complete breakdown. Many of the modern things in the episode, TK is really trying to make a balancing act, trying to stay strong and also trying not to lose them completely because his mother was everything to him. I think if they did the funeral, he would have lost it completely. I don’t think he will be able to stay strong anymore.
What we will see from TK – alone and with Owen and Carlos [Rafael Silva] – When it comes to sadness to move forward?
You will definitely see TK grieving with Carlos. We will definitely not ignore the fact that Gwyn is gone. We will let this storyline breathe and it will affect TK throughout the season. And it will definitely add some inequality to their relationship, for sure.
Kevin Estrada / FOX
And with TK and Owen? There was that exchange with TK that he still loved her.
It’s just that TK was really emotional and I don’t think he necessarily meant that. I think a lot of emotions are just happening and he was really raw at the time. He knows his father loved her. I think he was just trying to work it all out. This can just bring Owen and TK closer together, because now Owen really is all he has left of TK when it comes to family. We will definitely see what this means for them.
TK tells Owen that he would have inflated if he hadn’t caught him. And then he says he can’t believe he’s going to do this to Gwyn. Would he have taken the drugs if Owen hadn’t found him?
Honestly, I think I would. In AA I did my research and the loss of someone can be a cause of relapse. This was the perfect example of how he literally didn’t know what else to do, and he says it on stage: He was going to get up so high that nothing else mattered. I think he would do it and he would regret it later, but I think he would do it. I think the question is how much would he take? Would it be a different situation, like maybe the pilot, maybe he would take too much? This is something I was thinking about in this scene, but yes, I think he would go through it.
Jack Zeman / FOX
TK told Owen about it and Tommy [Gina Torres] and Nancy [Brianna Baker] made an inventory after Nancy saw TK near the drugs. Are there any significant concerns in the future that TK will use?
Not necessarily. I think everyone knows that TK is a person with a very strong will and if nothing else, they will just be very supportive and give him the space and time to grieve and just go through all the emotions of losing someone like that. Especially with Tommy and Nancy, they’re just going to be really supportive and just amazing people through it all.
You said that your favorite scenes of TK and Owen, TK and Gwyn, TK and Carlos are coming up. Were they all in this episode?
Almost. I still think my favorite scene with Carlos and TK was when he revealed the attic to me. This was definitely my favorite of the season. Plane rescue with Owen is definitely my favorite. And then all the flashbacks with Gwyn are my favorite. These, to be honest, were probably some of my favorite things I’ve ever done, period, and it’s the proudest and hardest job I’ve ever done. This episode is really, really, really important to me and really special to me and I really gave my whole mind, body and soul for this episode because I knew it would take everything to really achieve this kind of work.
Kevin Estrada / FOX
Speaking of these memories – it was so amazing to just see this connection and especially on the plane, Gwyn said he couldn’t go to his son’s funeral, this part was pure heart.
I know, and the notice. The fact is that he was on his way to her funeral. I think that’s why mixing these flashbacks with today’s stuff was so powerful and just heartbreaking. This is Tim Miner, who is just a damn genius. This episode is just the one that shoots all the cylinders and my director, John Gray, was my maestro. He steered me in all the right directions and was such a balancing act with this performance. I may have taken some extra crazy steps to get to where I needed to go in retrospect, but I think it was worth it at the end of the day.
Now that TK and Carlos are together again, they look healthy. After going through the separation, are they settled in their relationship in a way they were not before?
Yes. I think they are very solid. Things were going well really good for them and then it happened; I think it only brings people together. But as I said before, we will definitely let this storyline breathe and stay. And it will definitely affect TK and Carlos and we will see that in the next few episodes.
It will also bring out a plot that is somewhat surprising. TK will get support from someone else who is dealing with the loss and it will be a really nice kind of new layer for this relationship. You’ll see this in episode 9 and I’m really excited to go that route.
Jack Zeman / FOX
Is this someone else Tommy?
[Laughs] This is someone else who is dealing with loss.
Given what happened to the attic, do you think TK should be the one to offer if / when that time comes?
Everyone wants to see them get married. After everything that happened, I have no idea. The beauty of this season is that we are on our toes every episode. I get really nervous every time we get a new script, because Tim can just do something completely unusual. So I have no idea. I’ve always said that I would think that TK will be the one to offer, but I don’t know, maybe after everything we’ve been through, it might make sense to be Carlos. We will just have to see if and when this will happen.
What else is ahead for TK? Something about rescue? It’s hard to beat one on a plane that lost an engine …
Yes, on the way to your mother’s funeral. You can’t really go beyond that. But believe me, the writers will definitely try. It’s just such an amazing season and I said it was our best season. I definitely think this is the best season for TK. And yes, we will definitely see some really crazy things, especially for TK. The loss of his mother will continue. We’ll see it in the next few episodes and it won’t just disappear and things will happen and it will add another layer to this kind of complicated TK Strand journey. It was, to put it mildly, an amusement park train.

Zoe Kravitz seems to have confirmed long-standing rumors that her version of Catwoman is bisexual in her upcoming film Batman.
The 33-year-old actress admitted that she “interpreted” the character as part of the LGBTQ community in an interview with the Australian Pedestrian.tv, published on Monday.
Although Kravitz’s character seems to have an emotional entanglement with the eponymous cloaked crusader (played by Robert Pattinson), she may have had lovers.
A new direction? Zoe Kravtiz, 33, said she “interprets” her character Selina Kyle (also known as Catwoman) as bisexual in her new film The Batwoman, according to an interview published Monday by Pedestrian.tv; seen on February 23 in London
Batman includes an early scene with Zoe’s character Selina Kyle, in which she returns to her apartment and calls her friend Annika, calling her a “baby” in the process, suggesting they have a romantic relationship.
Although her possible romance with another woman is only hinted at, her attraction to Bruce Wayne / Batman is explicit, as the two kiss later in the film.
She also confuses her status by calling Annika a “friend” while talking to Pattinson’s character.
Zoe admitted that she accepted the earlier scene to mean that Selina is bisexual, even if it is not explicitly stated as such.
Hint: In an early scene, Selina (Kravitz) goes to her apartment and calls another woman named Annika, calling her a “baby”, which probably suggests that they had an intimate relationship; since Batman
Mixed Messages: She was also seen kissing Batman later and then treated Annika as a “girlfriend”; since Batman
“It’s definitely the way I interpreted it to have had some kind of romantic relationship,” she said.
After the interviewer shared his excitement about seeing a bisexual Catwoman on screen, the Big Little Lies actress added, “I agree!”
But film director Matt Reeves was more ambiguous when it came to Selina Kyle’s sexuality.
‘[The film is] very loyal to the character of Selina Kyle. She is not yet a Catwoman, but all the elements of how she will become a Catwoman are there, “he explained.
Agreed: Asked if the Catwoman was bisexual, Zoe said, “I definitely interpreted it that they had a romantic relationship”; seen in September in New York
“And as for her relationship with Annika, I talked to Zoe very early and one of the things she said that I liked was that, ‘She’s attracted to homeless people because she’s homeless and that’s why she really wants to be. take care of these homeless people because she no longer wants to be like that, and Annika is homeless and loves her. She is, in fact, the connection she has with her mother, who has lost, who is already homeless. “
The Cloverfield director clarified that the character is not explicitly intended to be bisexual, but he is open to this interpretation of fans.
“So I don’t think we wanted to go straight that way, but you can certainly interpret it that way. She has an intimacy with this character and it is a huge and deep care for this character, more than something sexual, but there had to be a very intimate relationship between them.
Going back: But director Matt Reeves was more ambiguous, saying the Catwoman shouldn’t have been explicitly bisexual, even though she was open to fan interpretation; (LD) Dylan Clark, Andy Serkis, Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright and Matt Reeves
Batman is simply the latest superhero movie to include hints of LGBTQ characters, although many fans have scoffed at past films for refusing to include more fully developed weird stars.
The Avengers: Endgame was ridiculed by some fans after the film was touted as Marvel’s first openly gay character, although the character turned out to be a minor character in just seconds on screen who mentions her husband in a support group visited by Captain America ( Chris Evans).
The character was played by one of the film’s directors, Joe Rousseau, who is not gay himself, which also annoys some fans.
Tessa Thompson is also believed to play her character Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok and his successors as bisexual, but a scene explicitly confirming her sexuality was cut.
Big studios like Disney / Marvel and Warner Bros. they may hesitate to include more prominent LGBTQ characters for fear of offending some fans or banning films in more culturally conservative countries.
Model: Previous superhero movies, including The Avengers: The End and Thor: Ragnarok, have been ridiculed for including allusions to LGBTQ characters while refusing to clarify their sexuality; Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth see each other in Thor: Ragnarok
The question of whether the Catwoman is bisexual in Batman did not seem to excite most reviewers, as the film currently boasts an impressive 87 percent fresh rating from critics polled by Rotten Tomatoes.
Although some previous viewers complained that the film was four minutes less than three hours – with credits included – and others mocked its dark visual style, the noir-influenced tone appealed to many critics.
Vulture’s Bilge Ebiri praised Batman’s dark tone, which he said was appropriate, as Batman is “the saddest of the characters.”
NPR critic Glenn Weldon hailed the film for ignoring some of the clichéd features of the Batman films, skipping the death of Bruce Wayne’s parents.
Slate’s Dana Stevens noted the “emotional power” of the way Batman made her protagonist a “Hamlet-like heir who can’t handle the initial shock of killing her parents,” and she also praised Zoe for a welcome break from parade of male antagonists.

ATTENTION SPOILER: This interview contains spoilers for the finale of season 2 of “Euphoria”, which aired on HBO on February 27. Played by 15-year-old Javon Walton, Ashtray is both the sweetest and scariest thing in Euphoria. Fesco’s unofficially adopted brother (Angus Cloud) is a kid when it comes to selling drugs, converting cryptocurrencies on the black market and predicting the movements of shadowy figures chasing his suburbs. No character in “Euphoria” goes through an episode without inflicting new trauma, but Ashtray is even tougher than Fez and Ryu (Zendaya) because he was stolen as a child. After a mixture of drugs, abandonment, and violence forced Fes to raise Ash’s baby at an early school age, Ash grew up with deep anger and fearlessness. Twice in the show’s second season, this manifests itself in his split-second decisions to brutally kill people. When Ash stabs Custer (Tyler Chase) in the neck for working with the police to bring him down and Fez, Fes begs his little brother to let him handle it, determined to fall alone. But Ash refuses to surrender and ends up in a shootout with a SWAT team. He inevitably loses. We hear the impact of his body hitting the floor. (Although it may be important to note that never see then.) But Walton doesn’t just define his character by his line of violence. “He is really hardworking. He is very loyal to the people he loves. And he’s smart and very, very confident, “he said. After a long school day, the young actor entered Zoom to tell a story Diversity about his hopes for Ashtray’s future and how his boxing career brought him a role in the hottest teenage drama on television.
In which grade you are? And how was school today?
I’m in ninth grade. And school today is school at the end of the day. Mathematics is a struggle. I’m not the biggest fan of math. And overall, I’m not a big fan of school. But I like my sixth cycle. It’s called team sports, and you basically just mess around and play basketball. This is a great way to get your energy out. So I love this!
Do your classmates watch the show? Do you feel weird being in class while you have this whole other life?
Sometimes he does it a little, but people are usually super respectful of him. It’s usually not something. Some do, no doubt, but they don’t really tell me too much about it. Because they know – I’m really a private person.
Let’s get into the episode. It seems unlikely, but some people believe that Ashtray may still be alive. Is there hope?
There is definitely hope that Ashtray is still alive. Because if there’s anyone who can carry a bullet in the show, it’s Ashtray. Ashtray is a nasty kid. He doesn’t play around. I believe he has a chance to be available for season 3.
The origins of Ashtray are such a mystery. Have you spent a lot of time thinking about where it comes from?
I was definitely thinking about what his background could be, the character and everything behind him. His family, his father, his mother, because we can’t really see any of that. But the anger comes from him, so it definitely comes from a really angry side. This is the main thing for him. He is just an angry child. Some of the things I imagined [are] when he was really young, how his parents would treat him. Because he is much angrier than Fesco. There is definitely a story behind all this. I may not be very aware of what exactly this may be, but it is definitely something super deep.
How do you prepare for your more intense scenes, such as the SWAT team shootout?
Honestly, especially for the finale, you have to really improve and have your own space for a minute to really get there. Because this is the deep space you need to connect with. Ashtray, he doesn’t have much dialogue, does he? But you can tell what he’s saying just by looking through his eyes. You can see the story behind them without him having to talk. It was pretty sad to shoot the last scene because I knew it was going to be my last time on set, which sucks. I knew I would miss everyone there. But during the shootout, when I was in the bathtub, it was pretty crazy because I was dusted. They had to pour the dust to make it look super realistic from the flying bullets. It was a sad day, but also a good day. Because I knew I would make a strong last impression.
Fess tries so hard to get Ash to take over for Custer’s murder, but Ash still takes on the SWAT team. What do you think about their relationship in this scene?
He really just wanted to protect me and he wanted to die for me. Either you go to jail or you die the moment SWAT teams scatter bullets all over the place; you can’t do much. And he really just wanted to protect me, as I wanted to protect him. Ashtray decided to do his thing because she wanted the best for him at the time. And that was selfish of him. After all, he’s a kid, you know? Many people see him as this adult, but he is very vulnerable. And we really see that at the end of the last episode. And he doesn’t want to go to a foster home. This is something else.
Interestingly, in Ashtray’s big moments, he always acts on instinct. He decides to kill Mouse and Custer right now.
He grew up in a world full of violence. They don’t teach him better than to kill. Although I can almost see where it comes from [I know] how confused it is. All he knows is to defend Fes.
Angus said Diversity earlier today that you originally had lines in the script, although Ash remains completely silent in the final version of the episode. Do you remember some of the things you said?
That was so long ago, exactly six months ago, so I don’t remember the exact dialogue. But there were a few times when Ashtray had to have a certain dialogue and Sam just decided to interrupt it because he liked it. [that with] Ashtray, there is a lot of mystery behind it.
What do you think about silence?
Honestly, I liked it to some extent. But at the same time, I want to have more dialogue in certain parts. But I was really just following Sam’s vision. I just wanted to follow him because he thought that was the best. And I thought it worked, too.
If you could write about Ashtray, what would he say?
If I could write about Ashtray … it would be something like super gangster shit. Like when he hit Cal in the head, it was going to be something super G all the time. [In the finale], I don’t think he can say much. “I won’t leave you like that.” Such things. Storytelling [Fezco] he regrets what he intends to do. There has been a lot of talk throughout the season about rewriting scripts. What changes have happened to your character? How much more violent he really was. This season he became much more violent because last season he was younger. But when he grew up, he really changed for the worse. And Ashtray should not have been shot. That was something else. He shouldn’t have been shot! Initially, Fes had to be shot, which is crazy. And then, as the day before, they changed the plot to shoot me.
What about when Ash accidentally shot Fes? Was that originally in the script?
I don’t think it’s always been there. It was written – the whole thing – like the day before.
Let’s end with a happier note. What was your favorite scene to shoot?
My favorite scene was until Season 1. The first scene I shot. I talked to Ryu, she was buying drugs, and I was trying to sort out my money, pay off my mortgage. This was the first scene I shot. And that was with Zendaya! Just a really cool moment. It was like, “Oh, is that true?” Because I didn’t understand it then!
Tell me more about the first days of Euphoria. I know this was your first acting project. Have you been auditioning for things for a long time?
Oh, no, not at all. I’m a boxer. I’ve done this almost my whole life and I was on Steve Harvey’s boxing show. And this casting director named Jennifer Wenditi, she saw me and said, “Hey, do you want to try playing? There’s this role called “Euphoria.” I was like, of course. I didn’t even think it was something I would even think of. I finally tried it and got it right away. [Levinson] I liked the look. He wanted an older child, but he liked that I was younger. And then I was such a gangster with that. And I was one of the only children who pronounced the names of the medicines correctly! additional screen reader Read more about:

Warner Bros. stopped launching Batman in Russia just days before it opened in theaters there as Hollywood moved to suspend plans to expand in the country following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.
Warner Bros., Walt Disney Co. and Sony Pictures said Monday they would “pause” the release of their films in Russia. Each studio has significant upcoming releases that were set to debut internationally in the coming weeks.
Batman, one of the most anticipated films of the year, launches on Friday in North America and many overseas territories, including Russia.
“In light of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, WarnerMedia has suspended the release of its feature film Batman in Russia,” a studio spokesman said in a statement.
“We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops. We hope for a speedy and peaceful resolution of this tragedy. “
The move by Warner Bros. closely followed a similar decision Monday by Walt Disney Co.
The studio planned to open the Pixar Turning Red film in Russia on March 10. This movie goes straight to Disney + in the US.
Warner Bros. was expected before Disney was announced. to continue with the Russian version of The Batman.
“Given the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the tragic humanitarian crisis, we are suspending the release of theatrical films in Russia, including Pixar’s forthcoming Turning Red,” a Disney spokesman said in a statement.
“We will make future business decisions based on the evolving situation. In the meantime, given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis, we are working with our NGO partners to provide emergency and other humanitarian assistance to refugees.
Late Monday, Hollywood shifted to confused plans in Russia as global pressure intensified to sever business ties with the country over the war in Ukraine. Western economic sanctions led to a sharp fall in the Russian ruble on Monday as many nations took steps to block Russian banks.
On Saturday, the Ukrainian Film Academy called for an international boycott of the Russian film industry.
The Film Association (MPA) said Monday that it “stands by the international community to uphold the rule of law and condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
“On behalf of our member companies, which run the film, television and streaming industries, we express our strongest support for the vibrant creative community of Ukraine, which, like all people, deserves to live and work in peace,” the statement said. MPA statement.
Russia is not the leading market for Hollywood, but the country usually ranks in the top dozen countries in the world in terms of box office.
Sony Spider-Man’s recent hit: No Way Home, which grossed $ 1.85 billion in worldwide ticket sales, grossed $ 46.7 million in Russia.
Sony’s latest release, Tom Holland adventure Uncharted, has grossed about $ 20 million in Russia in the last two weeks.
After Disney and Warner Bros. made their announcements, Sony followed suit.
“Given the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region, we will pause our planned theatrical performances in Russia, including the forthcoming edition of Morbius,” Sony said in a statement. of Spider- The opening of the men’s spinoff in early April.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been affected, and we hope that this crisis will be resolved quickly.

WarnerMedia said it would continue to monitor the situation as it awaits “a speedy and peaceful resolution of this tragedy.”
A Hollywood trade publication reported that the studio’s executives were struggling with the Russian issue as the United States and its European allies imposed economic sanctions.

But the loss of his leadership position at the helm of a major European orchestra has far more serious implications for his international career.
This is a stunning twist for Mr. Gergiev, whose full schedule and regular engagements with many of the world’s leading concert halls and opera houses led the Bachtrack website, which collects statistics on classical music performances, to declare him the busiest conductor in the world. in the last few seasons.
Mr Gergiev is a prominent supporter of Mr Putin, supports his re-election and has appeared at concerts in Russia and abroad to promote his policies. The two have known each other since the early 1990s, when Mr Putin was an official in St. Petersburg and Mr Gergiev began his term as leader of the Mariinsky, then called Kirov.
Mr Putin has played an important role in Mr Gergiev’s success, providing funding for the Mariinsky Theater, where Mr Gergiev is the general and artistic director.
Understand Russia’s attack on Ukraine
Map 1 of 7What is the basis of this invasion? Russia considers Ukraine in its natural sphere of influence and is concerned about Ukraine’s proximity to the West and the prospect of the country joining NATO or the European Union. Although Ukraine is not part of either, it receives financial and military assistance from the United States and Europe.
Are these tensions just beginning? Antagonism between the two nations has been rampant since 2014, when Russian troops crossed into Ukrainian territory after an uprising in Ukraine replaced their Russian-friendly president with a pro-Western government. Russia then annexed Crimea and inspired a separatist movement in the east. A ceasefire was agreed in 2015, but fighting continues.
How did Ukraine respond? On February 23, Ukraine declared a 30-day state of emergency as cyberattacks shattered government institutions. After the attacks began, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky declared martial law. The foreign minister called the attacks a “full-scale invasion” and called on the world to “stop Putin”.
His international engagements began to wane last week when Carnegie Hall and the Vienna Philharmonic missed him on a series of performances. On Sunday, Mr. Gergiev’s manager announced that he was ending his relationship with his client.
Manager Marcus Felsner said in a statement that it had become impossible to defend Mr. Gergiev, whom he described as “one of the greatest conductors of all time, a visionary artist, loved and admired by many of us who would not. or it cannot publicly end its long-standing support for a regime that has come to commit such crimes. “
The consequences continued on Monday, with the Verbier Festival in Switzerland saying it had asked for and accepted Mr Gergiev’s resignation as music director of the festival orchestra. (The festival also said it would ban other artists who have shown support for Mr Putin’s actions, and would return donations from people sanctioned by Western governments.)
The Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland, where Mr Gergiev was honorary president, also said Monday that he had resigned after being asked to do so. The Philharmonic de Paris, a performing arts complex in France, has announced that it will cancel two concerts in April with Mr Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra. And the Lucerne festival in Switzerland said it canceled two performances in August with Mr Gergiev and Mr Mariinsky.
“In view of Russia’s military actions in violation of international law, we are sending a clear signal of solidarity to the people of Ukraine,” said Michael Hafliger, executive and artistic director of the festival.
Several other institutions have threatened to cancel Mr Gergiev’s commitments unless he condemns the attack on Ukraine, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Teatro la Scala and the Elbfilharmonic in Hamburg.
