ESPNs Mike Greenberg impales Bruce Arians JoeBucsFancom

Diss.

Bucco Bruce Arians doesn’t have many allies at ESPN.

Joe wonders why that is. Another four-letter dagger was hurled at him today.

This time it came from one of their biggest TV names, Mike Greenberg. He seems to think Tom Brady shouldn’t be gored for allegedly ousting Arians from his job as head coach. Brady should be supported, Greenberg explained on today’s Greeny Show.

“Why is that bad? Anyone think Bruce Arians was a great coach? Bruce Arians is a great guy. … He wasn’t a great head coach,” Greenberg told his national audience.

Hmm, Arians being coach of the year twice, plus a Super Bowl in another season should make him “great” by definition. And then there’s his win rate.

Arians is 89-51-1 as an NFL regular-season head coach if you factor in his interim duties at Indianapolis when he took over from Chuck Pagano in 2012. That 0.636 win ratio is better than Andy Reid and Sean Payton. And it’s better than Bill Walsh, John Harbaugh and Bill Cowher and a shade worse than the mighty Mike Tomlin in his 15 seasons in Pittsburgh.

Yes, but Arian wasn’t “great” according to Greenberg.

Joe will add that Arians was one hell of a coordinator and a Super Bowl winner in that role.

Who did Arians upset at BSPN and why? Or how bad was his relationship with the network while he was in Tampa and/or Arizona?
