Ramy Abdu, President of European-Mediterranean Human Rights Watch (Euro-Med)based in Geneva, said Israel uses it Hunger as a weapon to drive people out of Gaza and even kill them.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Abdu said that Palestinians in Gaza cannot cook due to the severe food shortage. Before Israel's attacks, an average of 500 trucks arrived every day, but currently there are 100 trucks or fewer.
Noting that there have been no food deliveries to the north of the Gaza Strip, Abdu said: “We can say that in the last 100 days, only 50 to 100 aid trucks have arrived in the north of the Gaza Strip.” There is great hunger and shortage in this region on everything. People are really starving here. “More than half a million Palestinians are suffering from harsh winter conditions and food shortages.”
Abdu recalled that United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had previously stated that aid agencies “cannot provide food to the entire Gaza Strip,” stressing that he had confirmed that there were no aid agencies in the northern Gaza Strip .
“Currently, more than half of Gazans are suffering from critical hunger. Everyone living in northern Gaza faces severe and brutal famine. Overall, more than 75% of Palestinians in Gaza suffer from severe hunger. “The number of relief trucks coming into the country is not increasing,” he explained.
Abdu claimed that Israeli soldiers fired in small quantities from south to north on those trying to reach food trucks entering the Gaza Strip, noting that they had documented dozens of people who lost their lives as a result .
“We are talking about a 'deliberate famine,' particularly in the northern Gaza Strip. Children are the most affected by this situation as they do not have the nutrition they need. Most babies need milk, but no milk gets into Gaza. Medicines, medical supplies and even food. Women can hardly cope with this situation. They don't eat it themselves and give it to their children. If we look at the body shapes of people in Gaza and especially in the north, I can easily understand that they are starving. “They are suffering a lot,” he added.
Abdu stressed that given the events on the ground in Gaza, Israel committed genocide in Gaza and in particular used its military elements.
“Israel is using hunger as a weapon to drive out and even kill Gazans. Another element is mass murder. We are now seeing the human cost of this. Approximately 4.5% of Gaza's population was killed, injured or missing. The third element is the exile and expulsion of the people of Gaza. Israel continues to use these three elements ruthlessly. This means that Israel is increasingly insisting on continuing this genocide in Gaza.”
Abdu said they hope that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will dissuade Israel from its “plan to expel the residents of the Gaza Strip” after it “reasonably decided” that Israel committed genocide in Gaza, assuring that they The situation on the ground continued after his announcement of his decision, but regretted that Israel continues to murder Palestinians in Gaza in the same way.
Abdu stated that Israel continues to destroy dozens of settlements and that it even restricts the entry of food trucks into the Gaza Strip and continues to systematically murder people by forcing them to leave the northern Gaza Strip.
Abdu also stressed that the UN and international organizations should not follow Israel's orders and instead put pressure on Israel.
Abdu called on the international community to act together and stressed the importance of speaking with “one voice” to put real pressure on Israel.
