Evander Kane is leaving the Hockey Diversity Alliance

Evander Kane is convinced that the Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA), which he co-founded, no longer plays the same role in society and has therefore stopped representing the organization.

Relations between Allianz and the National Hockey League soured further recently when the group decided to denounce the creation of a committee to make the sport more accessible to all. Sharing the same motivations as the Bettman circle, the HDA protested at not being involved in the plans.

Keep in mind that former players PK Subban and Anson Carter will chair this league committee.

The alliance was formed in June 2020 by seven players of color, including Kane, Quebecer Anthony Duclair and Akim Aliu.

“During our respective careers, each member of the Alliance has experienced multiple forms of racism and our initial goal was to bring those experiences to light. “In its early days, the influence and role of the HDA was significant,” the Edmonton Oilers forward wrote on Twitter.

“Unfortunately, my biggest concerns have come to light and the HDA is now being led and influenced by members with individual motivations,” Kane continued. There is a combative approach with other organizations and groups pursuing similar goals. This is a method that I do not support.

The 31-year-old hockey player said he made a difficult and disappointing decision and said he will continue his own fight to help athletes of color to play their sport.
