The Washington Capitals have lost six in a row at home and will have to take out some of the leaders in the East, Carolina Hurricanes, to break this series. A difficult task for any team, not to mention a fighter.
Evgeny Kuznetsov shot with his wrist past the proven Freddie Andersen to give Caps the lead in the first period. Martin Fehervari completed a fantastic change from the “fourth” line to double the lead. Alex Ovechkin added a one-time blast from his office to the procedure.
Dmitry Orlov with the cherry on top. Exclusion of Vitek Vanecek.
Capitals beat the Hurricanes 4-0!
- This first period seemed to me the best period they had played for months. They really led him to one of the best teams in the NHL and even got on board in a powerful game against a penalty, which fluctuated around 90 percent efficiency this season. The level of jump they had would make Chris Cross proud.
- It’s really nice to see Anthony Manta back. His presence in the squad simply leveled the striker group and gave Kaps a real second line for the first time since he was really injured in November. However, it will take some time for him to get used to his invisible hockey stick again.
- I have to say, although the national ESPN shows have some drawbacks … like the madness of the 567 that Ryan Reeves mentions in a game he played for a total of seven minutes … I enjoy them a lot more than the robotic one, NBC’s stenciled garbage released towards the end of their ownership of television rights.

- The Canes were a little better in the second, but the Caps still had most of the game in their favor and they added two goals to their lead. They found a series of great periods in the game, which is something they’ve had a lot of problems with lately. It’s so encouraging to see that they can still pull forty minutes out of their back pockets.
- The second goal of the match fell Martin Fehervari‘s stick and boy does he feel he really needs it. It is created from a fantastic work from Nick Dowd’s line, which feels like a sentence that has been repeated for the last three months. It’s only one game, but Conor Sheary looks like he’s mixed in perfectly to fill the injured Carl Hagelin.
- An Alex Ovechkin a single blast from his office hits the back of the net? I could live off the feeling of watching him come in alone. That was number 763 for Ovi and he is now only four distances ahead of Jaromir Jagr for the third time in NHL history.
- Two power goals in total? What a coup! Can this unit really rotate? They’ve obviously gotten better lately, and the focus on getting more shots to the network and the traffic in front of that network seems to be working.

- The lids are full of turtles in the third, but who really cares. You don’t like to see this, but hey … it worked tonight. Fortunately, one man was very, very good on the net.
- And this guy is named Vitek Vanechek. The third break of the season for Vanecek, as he ends a series of losses in the home regulations. He should be the “man” by the end of this season.
- Really cool to see John Carlson shake a little Pride Tape on your wand during the game tonight. We hope that everyone present at Pride Night had a great time!
Not Joe B, so here’s your Peter Laviolette evening suit.

Next up for Caps, the Seattle Kraken will be in town for the first time in their franchise history. Two Washington in battle.
