During the 25th edition of the Classique Golf et Vélo at Le Mirage Golf Club, France D’Amour was the surprise of the evening and was invited to recite two songs to the businessmen and other participants. “I don’t know in advance what I’m going to play. “I’m waiting to see the atmosphere on site,” reveals the artist, who is attending this Golf Classic for the first time to raise funds for the Breakfast Club, whose job it is to provide meals to the students every morning before start of class “It is not real to me that there are children who go to school without having breakfast. I don’t understand that there is one in Canada. How can you study for three or four hours if you haven’t eaten?” she adds to explain her presence at this beautiful event.

A busy summer

France D’Amour will not be idle either in the hot season or in autumn! On the contrary, she won’t be giving herself much time as she’ll be hitting the streets of Quebec, both indoors and at festivals, until the end of November. “Eventually I tell myself it’ll wear off, but it doesn’t,” she told us, laughing. Among the dates on the program, we should mention that it will be part of the Canada Day celebrations on July 1st in Ottawa. She will then travel to Baie-Comeau, Repentigny, Chicoutimi, Sept-Îles, Sherbrooke, Nicolet and Rivière-Ouelle in July.

AN ALBUM FOR 2024

The singer-songwriter has been working on new material since the beginning of the year. “From January to March I wrote the lyrics and the music for all the songs. I’ve already recorded half of the album. I’ll finish the other half between shows. She will offer two of these new melodies at her performances this summer. “When I think about my next album, I don’t think about radio terms, I think about how it’s going to sound on stage,” she explains, casually recalling the difficult context of radio for French-speaking artists. She adds, “I’m thinking about what will move people in the audience, what they need to hear to lift their spirits. They have to sing the song when they hear it for the first time,” she explains. Recently, France D’Amour also stepped out of her comfort zone by taking part in the song Less grey, which is a hybrid of her 1998 hit song If it was true and the creation of rappers Doug St-Louis and Root. “The boys are so cool! It clicked so much between us that one of them who is a producer is working on my upcoming album. The songs are very rhythmic, it sounds very much like 2023.” We will certainly have to wait until winter 2024 for a release date.

A heart to take away

Single for almost eight years, France D’Amour affirms that she is a fulfilled woman even if she leads her life alone. “There is nothing to say about my loved ones. It doesn’t work But I know a lot of single, happy girls. And there are other examples, like my musician on the drums: he’s been with his wife for 25 years. He met the right girl, it works well and he’s a good guy. It doesn’t happen to me, and that’s okay.” Rather, she puts her energy and heart into creating her musical universe, including preparing her next album. “It’s going to be called 14 because I have a song called 14 but also because it’s my 14th record and I’m 14 mentally!” She finishes with a laugh.
