Quebecers Marion Thénault and Lewis Irving took to the podium in Ruka on Sunday as the freestyle ski jumping World Cup season kicked off.

Thénault scored 90.59 for his maneuver in the grand final, which allowed him to win the silver medal and fourth career podium in the World Cup.
Australia’s Danielle Scott dominated the competition from start to finish, winning gold after the final session with a score of 99.05. Kazakh Zhanbota Aldabergenova (80.04) completed the top three.
Flavie Aumond also took 10th place in the women’s race.
For his part, Irving won his seventh medal at the circuit with a score of 109.29, good for third place in the men’s event. He was beaten by the Swiss Pirmin Werner (126.34) and Noe Roth (123.98).
Alexandre Duchaine (103.98) also reached the grand final where he finished fifth.
His teammates Émilie Nadeau (seventh), Miha Fontaine (11th), Victor Primeau (12th), Nicolas Martineau (17th) and Pierre-Olivier Côté (27th) also took part in this first World Cup of the season.
